Getting married, having your child christened, organising a funeral
BAPTISM
In Baptism, or Christening as it’s often called, we begin our journey of faith with God, symbolised by being covered by water, the sign of new life. This can happen at any age, young or old and in the Church of England it is common to baptise young children and babies.
In the Baptism Service the parents and godparents declare their faith in Jesus Christ and promise to bring their child up as a Christian and to bring them regularly to Church so that they will grow up in the Christian faith from their earliest years.
At Exwick Church we baptise children at our Family Service at 11am on the last Sunday of the month. We will help you to understand the service and what it means to be a part of the family of the church by asking you to:-
Attend a Family Service, come to a preparation meeting in the Church and attend another Baptism so that you can see what happens.
If you would like to have your child baptised, or be baptised yourself, please contact the Revd Jerry Bird on 07960491668.
GETTING MARRIED
Having your wedding in Church is a wonderful way of starting your married life together and we will be very pleased to welcome you and your family and friends to Exwick Church for your special day.
You are welcome to marry in church whatever your beliefs and whether or not you go to church. However you or your partner must either live within the Parish of Exwick or have a strong connection to the Church, and if you or your partner have been married before you will need to discuss this with the Vicar.
If you are thinking about being married at Exwick Church or would like a blessing, the first step is to contact the Revd Jerry Bird, 07960491668, and he advise you on what do next.
ORGANSING A FUNERAL
We welcome all to share their last moments with a loved one in a funeral at Exwick Church . The service can be very short and quiet with only a few members of the family, or a big occasion with music and a packed church. It can be followed by burial or cremation. Many who come have had little contact with the Church beforehand but find great comfort by knowing that they are in God's presence.
If you would like to talk about a funeral or service, please contact the Revd Jerry Bird on 07960491668
